The Company’s Health, Safety and Environment Policy.
Policy Statement:
The Company HSE Policy is defined according to the Constitution of Ukraine and it is aimed at a realization of one of fundamental laws of the person - the right to work in safe conditions, and is based on principles:
- Company’s full responsibility for creation of safe working conditions and for the Ukrainian Law Compliance;
- Company’s staff full responsibility for knowledge and implementation of HSE requirements;
- Increasing of a level of health, safety and environment protection;
- Complex approach to HSE tasks;
- Social protection of workers;
- Use of economic methods of HSE management.
The Company's HSE major priorities are:
- Priority of a life and health of workers;
- Implementation of a complex of organizational-technical measures aimed at an occupational traumatism prevention;
- Establishment of the control over industrial risks by use of engineered features and organizational measures;
- Involving all personnel in HSE activity;
- Prevention of accidents and occupational diseases;
- Training of personnel in safe methods of the work organization;
- Increase of a level of industrial safety of productions;
- The right and duty of all staff to stop work they consider unsafe and to intervene in unsafe or non-compliant actions.
The company management assumes the obligations as follow:
- To ensure observance of requirements of the national legislation, international standard OHSAS 18001, and also of other normative requirement and HSE international standards;
- To permanently improve the HSE (HSEMS);
- To develop and implement the complex measures on achievement of the established HSE standards;
- To inform and maintain the open dialogue with all involved parties concerning Company's HSE activities;
- To make use of worldwide experience in increasing of HSE performance indicators.
- To determine the objectives directed to increase of the work productivity, improvement of productivity definition methods and forming of the report structure;
- To ensure that our subcontractors strictly follow the HSE Policy rules.
COMPANY’S ENVIRONMENT POLICY
Policy Statement:
Company believes that for long term business success, it is necessary that its activities should be carried out in harmony with the environment Therefore, Company is committed to protect the environment, which is exposed to its operations. In line with this Company will take the following measures:
- to educate, train and motivate employees to conduct all activities in an environmentally acceptable manner;
- to take active steps towards recognizing and eliminating any environmentally detrimental practices;
- to eliminate the contamination of soil, groundwater and air caused by spills and leakage;
- to reduce emissions and dispose of waste safely and properly;
- to ensure that all abandoned sites are returned to their original environmental condition.
DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY
Policy Statement:
The abuse of drugs and alcohol can carry a serious danger to the safety and health of personnel, resulting in the potential for accidents, damage to property and act as a security hazard. In line with this the Company will take the following measures:
- Company's employees, sub-contractors, agents or visitors shall not come to work, operate equipment or perform any work or services while under the influence of any alcoholic liquor, narcotic or other intoxicating substance;
- Company's employees, sub-contractors, agents or visitors shall not distribute, purchase, sell or consume alcohol, narcotics or intoxicating substances while on work duty and recreation;
- This policy does not apply to an individual consuming prescribed medication so long as it does not impair his or her ability to perform safely his or her assigned tasks. In this instance the superior or appropriate supervisor must be informed of the medication prescribed.
- The supervisor of the work site is responsible for assuring that the drug and alcohol policy is enforced and has authority to remove personnel in contravention of the policy.
LAND TRANSPORT SAFETY POLICY
Policy Statement:
Company identifies and understands the hazards connected with the land transport. Company is deeply concerned that driving related incidents are the largest cause of fatalities and that land transport is one of the most risky activities in geophysical industry.
In detail Company declares that:
- vehicle specifications meet the defined standards,
- vehicle maintenance schedules are adhered to,
- seat belts for all seats are installed and used while driving. Fastening of seat belts is always compulsory for every one.
- drivers are medically fit and under no influence of alcohol or drugs,
- all drivers are licensed, trained in defensive driving, suitably experienced and familiar with the vehicle,
- a Journey Management System is used when traveling outside camp site on company businesses,
- night driving outside the city limits is restricted on company businesses, only to cases of emergency, by obtaining an approval from Expedition/Party Chief,
- all incidents are reported and high-potential incidents are investigated,
- IVMS are installed and operated in all crew vehicles at all times. Safe driver performance, on these vehicles, is monitored,
- Drivers shall adhere to the speed limit prescribed in road regulations of Ukraine, and the speed limits established by the Company:

- driver is not permitted to use a mobile phone or 2-way radio even with the use of hands-free equipment or smoke while driving company vehicle,
- all drivers should respect other road users, local culture and environment.
Line managers of the Company are responsible for ensuring that this policy is fully implemented by their staff.
NO SMOKING POLICY
Policy Statement:
Company recognizes that smoking has a detrimental effect on the health of smokers and none smokers. Smoking may also be a serious safety risk and has therefore declared a no smoking policy.
No Smoking Areas
- Smoking is prohibited in all areas, such as offices, computers room, lifts, food preparation and serving areas, sleeping quarters, toilets, corridors, lobbies, stairs, workshops and company vehicles (unless used privately) and other places where smoking is specifically prohibited.
- Smoking is not allowed during meetings, conferences or presentations.
Smoking Area
- Smoking is allowed in dedicated places only, clearly marked as a smoking area.
Company's management will make sure that this policy is completely implemented. Furthermore, disciplinary measures will be taken against those repeatedly violating the policy.
NIGHT DRIVING POLICY
Policy Statement:
All journeys shall be planned in order to avoid driving in the dark. If on a planned journey the night driving is required, strong reasons have to be presented for trip plan modification.
The following rules should be adhered:
- If, on a business journey it is too late to arrive at final destination before dark, then an overnight stay at a hotel in (room and meals for company account) shall be arranged.
- If, in exceptional circumstances, driving in the dark on Company business is unavoidable, prior approval shall be sought from responsible manager ( at Head office) or the Expedition Chief (at site). If this is not possible, they shall be informed as soon as possible that the journey has been started and has been safely completed.
- Journey in the dark to the airport, sea or river ports, to railway stations or bus stations on Company business is allowed, if it is due to the passenger transport timetable. Occurrences do not have to be reported.
- Driving on company business within the city in the dark is discouraged, but not prohibited under this policy. Consequently, occurrences do not have to be reported.
- Occasions of driving in the dark on Company business will be reviewed under the HSE Management System.
Line Managers are responsible for ensuring that this policy is fully implemented by their staff.
STOP WORK POLICY
Policy Statement:
The Company considers the protection of life and prevention of injuries as a top priority issue and does not allow situations in which the staff performs work not corresponding with Health and Safety regulations and directly endangering life and health of persons.
Taking this into consideration, the Company declares:
Any employee, any contracted person or any person employed by the Company’s subcontractor is authorized and has the duty to stop work when conditions of work do not correspond with Health and Safety regulations and are directly hazardous to health or life of the person. All personnel are obliged also to intervene and alert the affected person(s) engaged in any unsafe work or being in an unsafe condition and request the work to be stopped.
In the above-mentioned case when work leads to unacceptable or poorly controlled significant risk, a person shall stop the work or activity creating imminent danger and:
- exit the area if it is unsafe and remain in a safe place near the work station;
- pay particular attention to prevent any further hazards that may be caused by the work stopping and secure the work area to a reasonable extent;
- immediately inform their supervisor and report the circumstances, also when in doubt about the safety condition;
- be ready to resume the work after hazard removal or to perform other work as appointed by the supervisor.
Work shall not be resumed until the adverse conditions have been resolved and the work can be accomplished safely as required.
If supervisors do not deal with the concern adequately, the person has the further right to refer the matter to the Party Chief or the Company HSE advisor.
The employee will not suffer any detriment by following this procedure of work stoppage.
